Halloween is over, so now, it’s Election Day, which means NO SCHOOL!
Friendly reminder that the high school is no longer a polling station (at least for this year), so everyone will have to relocate to the Senior Center on Memphis Avenue by Veteran’s Memorial Park. Please do your civic duty today and vote.
Voting is a vital part in making this country function, so every single person has a part to play. Sometimes, people won’t vote because they think that their vote doesn’t matter. This is plain wrong; every citizen has the ability to vote and the responsibility, too.
With this responsibility comes the goal of researching all of the candidates. Educate yourself with the plans of politicians, both good and bad. Ask questions and seek answers. Do everything you can to advocate for the United States. Doing nothing and being complacent is worse than doing something that others may not agree with.

In more optimistic news, the Liveschool store went off without a hitch last Friday and yesterday. Students used all of their earned points (from being exceptionally-outstanding in many areas of school) to get snacks, drinks, gum, assignment passes, and the ever-famed DoorDash Pass.
Additionally, last Thursday, the Liveschool store was postponed because our lovely Mrs. Bader received an award from the “Elk & Elf” partnership for being an inspiration to our Brooklyn students. In addition to being showered with praise, she also received many gifts including customized Cleveland Browns merchandise and four tickets to an upcoming Browns game. Congratulations, Mrs. Bader!

Moving on, Key Club is starting a Toy Drive soon, so please bring any new or VERY GENTLY used toys to the boxes that will be placed in each W.I.N. Block classroom. The room with the most toys will win a mystery prize. Please email Mrs. Marquis if you have any questions.
Finally, Mr. Holko, significantly less enjoyed than his super awesome wife Mrs. Holko, helped set up the College and Career Fair (along with Mr. Larson and Mr. Jones) for tomorrow during his English IV classes, spanning from 9:00-11:00 in the high school gymnasium. Those who do not have ELA IV during these times may refer to their Grade Level Google Classroom for the times they can go down. This is mandatory for all seniors and non-Polaris juniors, so dress professionally.
Here is the calendar for November:
- November 3: Voting (No School)
- November 3: Hadestown Field Trip
- November 4: College & Career Fair
- November 7: SAT Testing
- November 11: Veterans Day
- November 25-29: Thanksgiving Break
Have a great week, fellow Hurricanes.
