As the air gets colder and the trees continue to change colors, we move closer and closer to the end of the first quarter. Please, get those assignments in fast!
Now, onto this week’s news.
As previously-mentioned, the first quarter is coming to a hasty end, but the hype doesn’t stop here. Down in the lower school, the annual book fair has come and gone with hundreds of books, diaries, and black-light pens making their way out of the library and into the sticky hands of our youngsters. It was a great annual event, so a big shout-out to those who made it happen.

Construction in the high school is still going strong. The men in orange are working hard on the science wing, music wing, and the new elevator. Maybe one day the persistent banging, drilling, and knocking will be considered a symphony of change instead of the racket we have to listen to while trying to find “x”.
The Class of 2027 has many things coming up this October, starting with our girls volleyball Senior Night taking place this Thursday. Each of our lovely ladies will be competing against Trinity High School and will be honored with their families to talk about their future plans prior to the match. Good luck, girls! You have earned this evening.
This year, BHS will not be a polling station for Brooklyn residents. Instead, voters will vote at the Brooklyn Senior Community Center. Speaking of the Senior Center, there will be an opportunity for community service hours coming up. A selection of students will be able to go to the Senior Center between 12:00-1:00 or 2:00-3:00 to spend time with the lovely residents. There will also be a selection of Brooklyn High School’s own artwork to be displayed for all to see.
Shifting gears, the underclassmen will be taking the PSAT on October 27. The seniors will be off on this day to explore college visitations.
Finally and sadly, after many years, Dr. Caleris has decided to pursue another professional opportunity in the North Olmsted City School District, effective January 1, 2027. Our school board is currently working to fill his role as superintendent. A big shout-out to Dr. Caleris for being a supportive, innovative, and passionate superintendent for six incredible years. Dr. C, you will be missed!
