Surrounded by cheering fans and family, the boys soccer team kicked off an unforgettable night dedicated to 11 incredible seniors.
John Nguyen, Julian Quintana, Jayden Torres, Gibran Boukzam, Sajon Johnson, Kyle Morgan, Ryan Howard, Danny Young, Ben Denovchek, Jack Schultz, and Aiden Villani were all honored for their many years of representing Hurricanes soccer.
For their game against the visiting Brookside Cardinals, the senior Hurricanes logged the majority of the playing time, stepping off the field only when a quick breather was essential. Both teams battled for the first 40 minutes; however, a scoreless first half kept the match deadlocked at 0–0 at the break.
Drama unfolded in the second half when a handball in the penalty box led to a red card for Denovchek, forcing the Hurricanes to only play with 10. Brookside took advantage of this and scored their first goal. The Cardinals managed two more goals midway through the second half, padding their lead. The lone offensive bright spot for the Hurricanes was a goal from Boukzam near the end of regulation. Though the match ultimately ended in a 3–1 loss, the team’s passion was evident until the final whistle.
More than the final score, this Senior Night was a celebration of family, brotherhood, and gratitude for 11 athletes who gave their all for the program. It was an unforgettable evening of soccer and emotional celebrations. As the final whistle blew, tears and smiles occurred as the players embraced one another, their coaches, and their families. Each senior was presented with framed keepsakes and flowers, highlighting years of practices, victories, and unwavering commitment.
Great job, senior boys!
The spotlight then turned to the girls team, which honored an impressive group of seniors as well: Yarimell Dechamps, Gianna Torres, Samira Laboo, and Maddie Barrow. Surrounded by cheering classmates, families, and dedicated fans packing the stands, the team channeled that crowd energy straight into their own contest with the Brookside Lady Cardinals.

From the opening whistle to the final whistle, the Hurricanes worked relentlessly to move the ball up-and-down the field to create scoring opportunities. Driven by the desire to send Yari, Gianna, Samira, and Maddie off with a win, every player worked tirelessly off the ball, battling for loose possessions.
The offense generated several close chances but unfortunately could not convert. Even when shots were turned away or plays fell short, the team’s communication and collective hustle never faltered.
While the final score in favor of Brookside (7-0) didn’t deliver the victory they fought so hard for, the performance showcased everything that defined this group’s season: Resilience, heart, and complete support for one another.

Congratulations, senior ladies!
Two defeats could not lessen the energy and emotions of this evening. We congratulate all of the senior soccer players.
