Setting the Legacy

Volleyball is a fun, energetic sport in which teamwork is a necessity for success. This formula was put to the test last night as the Lady Hurricanes welcomed in the visiting Lady Trojans from Trinity High school.

The opening set kicked off with high energy, but the Lady Trojans managed to grab the early momentum taking the first set by a score of 25-19. The Lady Hurricanes, however, refused to back down.

The hosts stormed onto the court for the second set on a high note when they dominated the opening rally by slamming down the first two points to electrify the student section. Trinity fought back to capture the lead, but the Lady Hurricanes answered right back, trading powerful momentum, swings, and reclaiming control of the court. The Lady Hurricanes kept fighting for every ball, diving for saves, communicating, and working together to keep their rally alive. Their determination and teamwork showed just how much they wanted to make Senior Night a memorable one (more on this later). Unfortunately, the Lady Trojans had the slight upper hand and ended the second set with a close 25-23 mark.

The do-or-die third set brought even more determination from the Lady Hurricanes as they continued to fight for every point through strong serves, powerful hits, and exciting rallies. The seniors showed their dedication and leadership by making the final set another memorable moment. Ultimately, the Lady Hurricanes dropped the third and final set 25-20 as the Lady Trojans left Brooklyn with a sweep.

Although the night was about the competition on the court, it was also a special moment to recognize the seniors who helped build the team’s legacy. Their hard work, dedication, and leadership throughout the season was on full display as they played in front of their family, friends, and fellow students.

Senior night was a reminder that volleyball is about more than winning and losing. It is about the memories made and the friendships built, and while the final scoreboard might not have followed the wanted script, the night completely belonged to an amazing group of seniors in Brooklyn Figueroa, Gianna Kos, Mia Glover, Niema Davis, and Reannan Konopka.

Congratulations, senior ladies!
