Chosen for this week’s Senior Spotlight is Jayden Chin. Jayden is energetic, funny, and social. Outside of school, Jayden works at Electrical Appliance Repair in Valley View. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer in his Winter league. A fun fact about Jayden is that he was this year’s Homecoming King.
Q: What is the most challenging task as a senior?
A: “I believe the most challenging task as a senior is really choosing where you want to be in the future. Personally, it feels very nerve-racking choosing which path to take, whether it’s college or going to work right after graduation, and I feel like a lot of others, including myself, are incredibly scared of picking the wrong choice.”
Q: Do you think high school prepared you for the real world?
A: “I don’t think high school necessarily prepared me for the real world, but it has allowed me to meet many people and develop a good sense of social skills.”
Q: What is the strongest piece of advice you have ever received?
A: “One of the strongest pieces of advice I have ever received is that although you may not be happy with where you are at in life and things may not seem to be going in your way, it’s important to recognize that many would kill to be in your position or even have the opportunity to be where you are at right now.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: “In 10 years, I see myself living comfortably while having a full-time job and being fully independent. I see myself still surrounded by many of my family and important friends and hopefully meeting many new people.”
Q: What is one rule you live by?
A: “One rule I try to live by is not assuming somebody’s life is perfect. I have always believed that everyone struggles with something, and it’s important not to compare situations because everyone struggles in life, no matter how much money they have, how old they are, and where they come from.”
Q: How did you manage to get through a difficult time in your life?
A: “Although for many when going through a difficult time the days may feel longer, it’s important to realize there are better days to come, and I believe what has personally helped me the most is just surrounding myself with loved ones and people who can get my mind off of those negative things.”
Q: What is the most creative excuse you have used to get out of a homework assignment?
A: “I have had plenty of excuses to try to get myself out of an assignment, but I don’t think any of them have ever worked.”
Q: Out of your entire school career, what teacher has been your biggest inspiration and/or influence?
A: “Out of my entire school career, Coach Grigson has to be my biggest inspiration and influence. Although I have never had him as a teacher, he has still made such an impact on me, whether it’s on or off the field. Although knowing him for such a short amount of time, he has always been the person to ask for advice if ever needed.”
Thank you for your participation in this week’s Senior Spotlight, Jayden. We hope you have a great rest of your senior year, and good luck with your HVAC career.
