Another year without the disappointing hometown Cleveland Browns in the Super Bowl, let alone the playoffs. Nonetheless, the Super Bowl matchup for February 8 is set in San Francisco, California, between the six-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots out of the AFC and the Seattle Seahawks out of the NFC.
How did each of these teams get here?
First is the New England Patriots, who finished with a regular-season record of 14-3, which gave them the #2 seed in the AFC. The Patriots have a very strong defense that was fourth best in points allowed. Offensively, they are led by second-year QB Drake Maye, who has had an MVP-caliber season.
In the playoffs, New England went up against the #7 seeded Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round. The defense proved strong, as the Patriots defeated the Chargers, 16-3. The next test for this squad was the #5 seeded Houston Texans in the Divisional round, who cruised past the Pittsburgh Steelers in their Wild Card matchup. Once again, New England’s defense stepped up as they intercepted former Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud four times, all in the first half, and defeated the Texans, 28-16.
To get to Super Bowl LX, the Patriots faced the Bo Nix-less Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game for a chance to continue their dynasty. Two of the best defenses in the entire league for a chance to go to the Super Bowl, and it proved true, as the Patriots squeezed past Jarrett Stidham and the Denver Broncos in a snowy defense battle, winning 10-7.
Now, New England is ready to roll into San Francisco with their young superstar QB and one of the best defenses in the league.

In the NFC, the #1-seeded Seattle Seahawks finished with a regular-season record of 14-3. Seattle had the best scoring defense in the entire league and a very strong offense led by former Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba and QB Sam Darnold. Smith-Njigba finished the regular season with 1,793 receiving yards, which was the highest in the NFL.
Because Seattle had the #1 seed, they received a bye through the Wild Card round and would go up against the #6-seeded San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional round, who upset the #3-seeded Philadelphia Eagles. Right away, they had an opening kickoff returned for a TD, and it was pure dominance after that as they defeated the 49ers, 41-6.
Their next test was the Puka Nacua-led Los Angeles Rams for a chance to go to the Super Bowl. This game was a lot more competitive with both teams trading touchdowns throughout the game. In the end, Seattle prevailed and defeated the Rams, 31-27.
This strong, flashy squad has all the momentum as their offense and defense are some of the best in the NFL. They are vying for their second Lombardi Trophy.
