Happy last day of April, Brooklyn!

With today being the final day of the month, it can only mean one thing: We are getting closer and closer to graduation and Summer vacation.

To start off, Brooklyn hosted their annual Jazz & Art Festival last Friday. The event featured some amazing music from the Show Choir, including solo performances from seniors Desiree Gailes and Amber Rice. In addition, the Jazz Band performed numerous songs with senior band members taking the lead.

While the stage was being filled with music, the National Honor Art Society showcased their art in the backstage room. Multiple drawings and paintings were created by our amazing students. Some of the Polaris students involved in the baking program also made delicious cookies and brownies for everyone to enjoy during the Festival.

A huge thank you to everyone involved. If you happened to miss the wonderful performances, please check out the Band’s YouTube page.

Next, the final blood drive of the year is this Friday, May 3.  If you are interested in donating, please sign-up here. If you are 16, please make sure to get a Parent-Consent Form from room 179 (Mrs. Bader). Remember, donating counts for two hours or four-to-five hours if you do the double-red donation.

For those attending post prom on May 17, make sure that you and your parents/guardians read through all of the information and sign the attached forms. Extra waivers are available in the main office. These can be turned in now through Friday, May 10.

Also, all of your fees MUST be paid if you want to attend Prom/After Prom. Please check in with the main office if you need help paying or need to view your fees.

Yearbook sales have started! If you are interested in buying a yearbook, the deadline is coming up. You must order your 2023-2024 yearbook by May 24. Cost is $74.

Here are a few reminders for seniors. First, there are only a few weeks left until graduation, so if you wish to be a commencement speaker, you must submit a speech no longer than three minutes to Mr. Ross. Only three students will be chosen, so make sure that your speech is turned in by Friday, May 17, at the latest.

Also, in Google Classroom, there is more information on cap & gown orders along with commencement. Please be sure to review that information. Remember Senior Hurricane Spotlights are due this Friday.

To wrap it up, here is your calendar for May:

  • May 2: Track Meet Volunteering
