Chosen for this week’s Staff Spotlight is Miss Carrie Musci. This is currently Miss Musci’s first year in Brooklyn but her ninth year in teaching third grade, overall. Previous to working here, she taught in the Akron Public City School District. She loves being outside, traveling, going to concerts, and exercising. Overall, she just tries to enjoy life as much as possible. A fun fact about Miss Musci is that she is Italian and has been to Italy four times.
Q: Out of all of the roles in Brooklyn, why did you choose to become a third-grade teacher?
A: “I like the community aspect of Brooklyn. I was drawn to it when I was applying, and when I met Dr. Caleris, he was just so welcoming, and everyone here is just so friendly. Honestly, I love third grade, so when I saw that there was a third grade position open, I was sold.”
Q: What is one of your favorite aspects about Brooklyn?
A: “Again, the community. I love how friendly everyone is. The parents are so kind towards me and just so appreciative of me, which I love.”
Q: What three words would your peers and/or students describe you with?
A: “They would say I am Entertaining, Caring, and Charismatic.”
Q: What strategies do you use to keep kids focused in class?
A: “I like to make all of my lessons super-engaging so that the students feel like they are a part of the lesson. I do not want learning to be a chore for them, so I like to make it as fun and interactive as possible.”
Q: Favorite book?
A: “The Great Gatsby.”
Q: Favorite type of pizza?
A: “I love a good veggie pizza.”
Q: Favorite Summer activity?
A: “Traveling!”
Q: What is your biggest pet peeve?
A: “Being late is probably my biggest pet peeve because I cannot stand when I am late or when other people are late.”
Thank you for letting us interview you, Miss Musci. We wish you all of the best for the rest of this school year. Enjoy your Summer and upcoming travel schedule. By the way, Italy is gorgeous!
