Chosen for this week’s second senior spotlight is Tyler Morgan. Tyler is intelligent, well-mannered, and ambitious. Tyler keeps himself busy with Hurricanes sports such as soccer, hockey, and baseball. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games with his friends as well as hanging out with his family.

Q: What are your plans after high school?

A: “I am attending Ohio University next Fall and plan to major in Sports Management and Finance.”

Q: What has been the highlight of your senior year?

A: “The highlight of my senior year was making All-CVC 2nd team in soccer. I put in a lot of work into a sport that I thought I’d never play, and it made me really happy to see some recognition.”

Q: When you graduate from Brooklyn High School, what will you be remembered for most?

A: “I hope that I will be remembered for being able to do it all. I played four different sports and stayed at the top of my class academically.”

Q: What would you like colleges to know about you that might not be obvious when looking at your application/transcripts?

A: “I think colleges and everyone else should know that I can make friends with anyone. I always want to find a way to connect with someone, and I will always try to make that happen.”

Q: If you had a song play every time you walked into a room, what would it be?

A: “‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ by Metallica. It’s a song that I like, and it has a long intro that sounds somewhat intimidating. I think it would be funny to come off as intimidating, and then you see me and realize that I am not intimidating whatsoever.”

Q: What sets you apart from other peers in your class?

A: “I think it has to be my ability to adapt. Each sport season had a different schedule and practice times, and I quickly found my place playing each of them. Most people see a dip in energy or productivity in different situations, but I just don’t.”

Q: If you could have any seasonal tickets for any sports team, what team would it be?

A: “I would pick the Cleveland Guardians. I love watching baseball, and they’re my favorite team. I don’t get to see them play enough.”

Q: What is your favorite elementary school memory?

A: “My favorite memory from elementary school is probably the first time I played football at recess. It’s when my love for sports first started, and it’s when I started to connect with my best friends who I still have today.”

Q: If you could change one school rule, what would it be?

A: “I think that for Brooklyn, specifically, juniors and seniors who have double study halls in the morning or afternoon shouldn’t have to go to both of them.”

Q: Out of your entire school career, what teacher has been the biggest inspiration and/or influence to you?

A: “Probably Mr. Sedlacek. He’s been my teacher and coach and is a big reason I want to coach at some point. He’s always happy to answer my very specific and over-the-top questions about baseball or whatever else is on my mind. He made me appreciate all of the small details.”

Thank you for your time, Tyler. Enjoy the rest of your senior year, and good luck as a future Ohio Bobcat.
