Teacher Appreciation Week: Mr. Roegiers

Mr. Roegiers has taught for a total of 17 years, 14 of which were in Brooklyn. He used to coach the boys’ varsity soccer team, and he is the current teacher for 11th grade AVID.  He also teaches chemistry and forensics to students from an array of grade levels in the high school building. To be able to teach, he received his graduate degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and went through training at the AVID institute for multiple years.

Choosing Mr. Roegiers was a simple choice for me. His chemistry class was the reason I decided to pivot into pursuing a career in chemistry. The way he conducted the class taught me to not be stressed even if the subject matter was hard, as long as I did the work I needed to understand the topic. It was obvious he cared about everyone in the class and how they did. The class was extremely hard, but knowing Mr. Roegiers, he helped along the way, which alleviated most of the stress.

Roegiers, thank you for all you have done. If you did not give the help I needed during your class, I may have never fallen in love with chemistry. Plus, you made sure your classes were going to be remembered. Even though I did not have one of your classes during my senior year, your classes will be integral to my high school memories and beyond.
