Mrs. McGarey is a special education and intervention specialist at Brooklyn High School. She has worked with students of all grades, K-12. She is also the Teacher Leader for the Junior First Ring Student Leadership Group at BHS. This is her 18th year teaching and her second year teaching in Brooklyn. She taught for three years in the Cincinnati Public Schools, then twelve years for the Milford Exempted Village School District. She then taught for one year in the middle school Autism Classroom at the Achievement Center for Children in Westlake, Ohio. She got married to her husband in June of 2016 and had her son, Tommy, last spring on April 2.
When choosing a teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week, Mrs. McGarey immediately stuck out. When I joined the First Ring Leadership Group, she was very welcoming, and I immediately loved working with her. She is a great person to collaborate with, and she does her best to assist my group with our projects. She is always ready to help any student who needs it and is always very understanding.
Thank you, Mrs. McGarey, for always putting 100 percent into your work! You have inspired me to be the best student I can be, and I cannot thank you more for this. Thank you for traveling with my leadership group to our field trips and always helping us when we faced complications with our projects. I appreciate all the hard work you put into being a teacher because it does not go unnoticed!
