Miss Kristen Field is a geometry teacher at Brooklyn High School. She has also coached basketball and softball. She was the varsity girls basketball coach for nine years, then she took a few years off when she had her daughter. Miss Field has been a teacher for 17 years at Brooklyn High School and a coach for 13 years.
Miss Field has a seven-year-old daughter (Addison) who is in first grade. Field says that her daughter loves reading and actually enjoys it more than math, much to her mother’s chagrin! Lately, Miss Field and her daughter have been trying to stay active while being stuck at home and have done lots of biking and hiking. They even hiked the Berea waterfalls recently!
I chose to recognize Miss Field because she is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I, personally, have always struggled in math, and she is one of the only teachers I have had who has been able to make math make sense to me. She makes learning feel easy, and she really cares about her students and ensures that they get the best possible chance to succeed in her class. When a student is confused or struggling, Miss Field has no problem giving him/her extra help; she will even sometimes stay after school to tutor. She has done this for me a few times before and, for me, it made a world of a difference.
Thank you, Miss Field, for making me want to learn and for making geometry class fun. You joke around with us in class but also make sure the work gets done. Without you as a teacher, I do not know how well I would have done this year, honestly. You truly are one of the best teachers I have ever had!
